Within the Spirit family of companies we recently took over the running of a group of GP Practices in Leicester and we are looking to do things differently. We care for over 1,200 people with diabetes and this number is increasing rapidly. The Challenges as we see them: Diabetes is a growing challenge and all practices are under pressure Sub optimal blood glucose control is common within practice populations and this puts additional pressure on NHS resources Compliance within care pathways and treatment plans is often problematic, in fact some people simply don’t turn up for review At the moment we have very limited access to diabetes experts within our practices.
